Le Meublinoscope

Sandra, Plumy, Gao, Calin, Yang, Everywhere, Ottoman and Pukka: these names along with many others have become iconic. Brought to life by visionary designers, and with some pieces still part of the collection today, they have shaped the history of Cinna. As we don’t celebrate our fiftieth anniversary every day, we’ve put together a way for you to rediscover these classics. A “trombinoscope”… design edition, of course!

Cinna achieved its first major success in 1976 with the Gao sofa bed, created by Laloy and Ponthus. A true manifesto of its time, it combines ingenuity and modularity within a silhouette that is as bold as it is functional. An undisputed best-seller, produced in tens of thousands of units, it even appealed to François Mitterrand, thereby affirming Cinna’s place within the French design landscape.

With the Calin sofa, Pascal Mourgue redefined comfort in 1994 through a sensory and intuitive approach to design. Inspired by the softness of a folded cushion, this iconic piece plays with inclination and modularity to create a seat that is as enveloping as it is familiar. Its concept, both simple and ingenious, proved instantly appealing: an accessible design, easily interchangeable covers, and a constant invitation to relax. A true manifesto of well-being, signed Cinna.

With Yang, François Bauchet moves beyond the traditional notion of seating to propose an immersive vision of the living space. This modular chaise longue redefined interior layouts in the 2000s. Yang does more than simply occupy space it defines and embodies it, transforming the living room into a true living space, infinitely adaptable.

The Hyannis Port collection by Éric Jourdan was designed in 2003. This furniture range is distinguished by high-gloss white lacquered plywood shells with rounded rear edges, polished chrome handles and bases, as well as drawers equipped with a soft-close automatic return system with dampers.

With Prado, Cinna rethinks the sofa as a space of total freedom. This large modular bench adapts to uses and desires thanks to mobile back cushions, independent and free of any fixed attachment. More than just a design object, Prado responds to the lifestyles of both its time and today, where flexibility and comfort redefine the seating experience. A true best-seller of the brand, it embodies the perfect balance between functional ingenuity and understated elegance.

The Everywhere collection features a clean, timeless design and can be used throughout the home: living room and dining room furniture, shelving units, entryway storage, or TV and hi-fi cabinets. The Everywhere programme is one of the brand’s best-sellers, continuing to build its success on precise, enduring design, along with a wide range of combinations and finishes.

The Ottoman collection draws its inspiration from Moroccan tradition. Designed for a hotel project in Marrakech, this set comprising a sofa and an ottoman might have remained at the sketch stage after the project was abandoned. However, by presenting his drawings to Cinna, the designer immediately sparked the interest of Michel Roset, head of collections, who made it one of the flagship pieces of 2009. With its fully foam structure, the Ottoman sofa offers an enveloping seat and absolute comfort an open invitation to relaxation. In 2018, it moved outdoors with an outdoor version, marking the birth of Cinna Outdoor.

The Pukka collection is a true design achievement, drawing its roots from the golden era of C&B, when Gaetano Pesce unveiled his UP50 collection in 1969. Fascinated by a sponge that would always return to its original shape after a shower, he imagined a series of pieces paying tribute to this unique elasticity. George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg reinterpret this concept by infusing it with a more feminine, soft, and organic dimension, transforming the space into a cocoon of sensual comfort. The attention given to stitching, the use of ultra-soft foams, and the subtle tension of the lines give this collection an exceptional upholstered quality.
